UPDATE: Read another take from scientist Alaina G. Levine here.

On my plane ride to San Diego for the Pro Tour, I sat next to a professional looking middle-aged woman. As we started chatting, something I rarely do on planes, she revealed she was a scientist headed to the San Diego Convention Center for the AAAS convention, the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She seemed to be as interested in Magic as I was fascinated by her work involving global warming and dolphins, but she really took the cake when she revealed she and her staff were the models for the scientists from Roland Emmerich's "The Day After Tomorrow." As a huge Roland Emmerich  nerd, I was pretty geeked about it all.

She pointed out that her gathering, essentially a seminar for huge science nerds, was probably a perfect fit for the razzle dazzle of the Pro Tour. After all, when you've spent a long day examining slides of dolphin brains impacted by the effects of climate change, what's better than cutting loose with a game of Phyrexia VS. The Coalition or a draft?

Well, a member of that side has spoken up about their take on the Pro Tour, and we're passing it to you. Read the article on Chemistry World Blog here.
