ICv2 is reporting today that multiple sources inside Upper Deck have declared layoffs at the company happened Thursday. The move, if true, is not entirely unexpected. According to reports, the hardest hit section of the company was Upper Deck Entertainment, responsible for most of Upper Deck's TCG offerings. Those have included Marvel Versus, which failed, Yugioh, which ended in a lawsuit, and World of Warcraft, the license for which was taken back by Blizzard in February.

The Magic community provided many of the members of the Upper Deck Entertainment team. At one point or another, Brian Kibler, Antonino De Rosa, Ben Seck, Dave Humpherys, and Patrick Sullivan have worked for the company on game design, amongst others. Each has also been a consistent member of the Pro Tour, with Humpherys a member of the Hall of Fame, Kibler a Pro Tour champion as recently as this past season, and Ben Seck earning a spot back on tour during a PTQ at Pro Tour-San Diego.

The move would be yet another in a long line of troubles the company has faced over the past 12 months. There has been no public announcement over what, if anything, will happen with Upper Deck's new Marvel offering. That TCG was originally slated to be headed up by Ben Seck before he left the company.
